Phoenix
Me and my sista has the best trip ever to the land of the hot sun, aka Phoenix, last weekend.
We traveled sans kids and hubbies which felt odd, and I spent most of the time clutching my purse for comfort since there was no diaper bag to hold or kid(s) pulling on my leg. By "odd" I mean, really fun and liberating of course.
I constantly tell Stick that I don't like to shop, and truthfully I rarely do. If I am shopping it's because I need a certain outfit for a certain occasion and there is always a deadline. So it's stressful and not so fun. Especially if you figure in the kids, 4 of whom are boys and shopping is akin to pulling out their fingernails one by one, with hot fiery tongs.
BUT, I discovered if you are in Phoenix with NO kids and fun vacation money in your wallet, shopping seems really fun! We basically dragged our poor mother all over town and tried to shop her to death. She spent so much time watching us try on clothes and shop, that by the end, she even wanted to buy things. Fortunately for her wallet, this occurred right when we had to come home.
Day one of shopping started out with a fun movie, "Hairspray". Which I liked, although John Travolta looked like himself in a ladies body, couldn't really see past that.
Then we went over to schwanky Scottsdale where they have shopping galore at a place called Keirland Commons.
Here are some of the places we checked out:
the Sugar Bowl (circa 1950's ice cream shop)*, Restoration Hardware, My Sister's Closet* (upscale consignment), Anthropologie, Lucy, Talbots, Sur La Table
*not technically at Kierland Commons, although in Scottsdale.
We ended Day One with a great movie that I highly recommend:
Day two involved shopping closer to home, also quite enjoyable:
Ann Taylor, Target*, DSW, Dress Barn, Old Navy, Ann Taylor LOFT**
**my new favorite store
*yes, we went all the way to Phoenix to go to Target, twice in fact
Day three involved church and quickish sightseeing on the way there. This is what we saw:
Then unfortunately, the fun was over. We had to come home.
Oh yes, we must not forget, here's where we ate some de-lish food.
Also the fabulous condo where we stayed. I considered buying a vacation home here, but frankly they just weren't nice enough for my high living tastes.*
*you do know I'm kidding right?
All in all, the trip was fabuloso and one that we will remember forever!
gracias mamita!
