voted off the island: preschool edition

The start of school technically means summer is over, but someone forgot to tell Mother Nature. Since it is still blazing hot outside, Rebekah and I met up with Grandma and some cousins at a local splash pad.

And since school has started, there were only preschoolers and babies at the splash pad.

It's a really nice facility.

(Strangely these pictures make the RV look much closer than it really was.)

Grandma with most of her pre-school age grand kids.

We sat in the shade and chatted while the kids played.

Eventually though, we noticed something odd happening......

Rebekah and her cousin "I" were bonding over the mutual bullying of the other preschoolers.

Say what?!!?!

We watched them with morbid amusement as they alternately chased and splashed water on the other kids.  Every time I looked up Rebekah had her hands on her hips with her head sassily jerking back and forth (like her name was LaQuita) while she smack-talked some kid.

At one point I heard her say, "Oh yeah, well I am FOUR years old!"

We started to notice the other mothers looking our way, talking amongst themselves.

?

Eventually their "Lord of the Flies" moment evolved to the full on taunting captured here:

Notice who stuck their fingers in their ears first.....

The "Nah nah na na nah nah" was the final straw.

We called them over and sternly told them to "Be nice."

We left shortly after that and Rebekah spent the entire ride home telling me that the other kids were being "rude" so they had to be mean back to them.

Both these kids will be in kindergarten next year.

It's probably a good thing they'll go to different schools!

Yikes, ya meanies.

Actually I think it's really nice that these two can "stick up" for themselves. No push-overs here.
