bits o' brick
Brick is our kindergarten boy. He's keeping a running total of all the new friends he meets at school. I think the number was "10,000" last time I checked. He's awfully friendly.
Brick has a thankful heart. The other day after my usual Costco run, he told me, "Mom, Thanks for buying all that stuff. Especially the Oatmeal (instant) and the Runts (candy)". What a sweetie.
One day about a year ago, as I was putting clean clothes into his dresser he said, "Thanks for washing all my clothes mom!" As silly and trivial as it sounds, it was very meaningful to me. Lets face it, laundry is a thankless job. Before you can even finish, there are new things to be washed. I think of his gratitude often when approaching my current week's mountain of laundry.
As if friendliness and gratitude aren't enough, this boy has 4 dimples. Two in each cheek. Don't you just want to squeeze them?
All these good things almost make up for the fact that he left his backpack on the bus today, and after I had washed and dried all the bedding, brought his dirty sheets to me.
Almost.
