Rachel decided to try out for the basketball team for our new high school. Now let me clarify things a little.....basketball season is months away, I think it starts around Thanksgiving. They haven't even had tryouts yet. So obviously they are practicing in April.
They've been practicing almost daily and played in a local tournament called the "Spring Fling." Let's just state for the record that the tournament was tough. They played against other schools who have had their teams together for a long time. Our first tournament game was the first time the girls had ever even played a game together and they'd only practiced together about 4 times. However, by the end of the tournament they had made huge improvements as a team. They have a long way to go, but I think they'll figure it all out.
About half way through the tournament, something clicked with Rachel and she was able to turn her aggression on. Her coaches said, "where has that been all this time?" The next game she played 95% of the game.
It's been busy for her but she's enjoying it. Some days, she goes to school and comes home for 15 minutes before she goes to work. Then she goes straight from work to practice (yea drivers license!). Then after all that, she does homework.
It's been fun to watch her play and I hope that in the end she does make the team after all her hard work!

Oh so proud! I want to watch her play! Can she keep playing for a long time until I can walk more than 10 feet? I really want to come watch. :)
