you and me goin' fishin' in the park
In an effort to squeeze in a little last minute fun before school starts next week,
we went to the local park for lunch today.
The big boys rode their bikes to the park about an hour before we got there to go catch "craw fish" with friends.
When we got there they were nowhere to be found.
I really didn't feel like looking for them all over our big ol' park so we plopped down in a nice shady spot and starting eating. I knew they'd show up sooner or later.
Sure enough, they eventually showed up.
They were in a spot like the picture above, but on the other side of the fence, hidden inside the trees, down the bank and in the creek.
Proto came running up to happily show me the fish they caught.
These crafty boys put the glass bottle sideways in the bottom of the creek and then the dumb ol' fish would swim right into the bottle and be scooped up.
Smart fish? I think not.
They also found worms, and slugs and other assorted squishy things that made me squirm.
Notice that a couple of the boys are eating sandwiches while happily observing their catch.
And holding the sandwiches with the hands that caught the fish down in the murky, brackish water.
Ewwww.
My boys.
I sure love them.
I don't understand them, but I love them.
(And yes, I did make a couple of them take a bath when we got home. Ewww.)
