adios old bushes--bienvenidos new trees

See the large, ugly overgrown bush above?

There's a matching ugly bush on the other side of these steps as well.

Except now, one of them looks like this:

By tonight they will both have been murdered.  I've been plotting their demise since the day we moved in.  Yesterday, fueled by the amazing sunny/warmish weather (and a heafty dose of PMS) I chopped the ugly bush, getting happier by the minute.  I'm sure getting the remaining stump out will test my muscles and ingenuity but I WILL do it.

Yea.

For Family Home Evening, we planted trees in the backyard.

Below you will see 3 very skinny trees.

A Bing Cherry, and two Bartlett Pears.

Here's a new Elberta Peach that will hopefully do better than the sickly looking peach trees behind it.

Planting the trees made Stick and I quite happy.  We've wanted to do it forever, but could never get a plan at our old house. ( We knew the "new" house was coming, and didn't know where to put trees.....so much for that!)

The kids kept talking about how fun it would be to walk into the backyard and just grab a fruit off a tree to eat for lunch.  In three or fours years, that is.  I hope the fun hasn't worn off by then.

Yay! Love the new trees and the murder of the bushes. Wish I was outside murdering things in my yard and planting trees. Where did you get your trees?? So fun.
