Thomas Hardy Movie Reviews

Two Thomas Hardy movies are being reviewed today, Mayor of Casterbridge and Tess of the d'Urbervilles. Both titles were written by Thomas Hardy but produced in movie form by A&E*.* While I enjoyed both movies, neither one will ever be mistaken for Pollyanna. The plots of both movies are generally sad, with a few moments of happiness mixed in. Thomas Hardy does an amazing job changing the feel of the plot often. I spent most of both movies trying to decide if I loved or hated the characters, my opinion kept changing. I give both movies 4 stars, but Tess does get a PG 13+ rating.
