Halloween 2012 - pt.III
Halloween parade at school.
Usually this is held inside the school, but this year the weather was so warm, they held it outside.
It was great!
Heh, Spencer's pants are falling down.
But no worries, he has PJ bottoms underneath so that the scratchy wool won't scratch him!
Tommy's last Halloween parade.
He will be in Middle School (gasp) next year.
Nothing like waiting 'till the very last minute.
The kids carved pumpkins while I made dinner.
It's nice when they are big enough that you hand them an knife and say "Carve your pumpkin by yourself. Don't cut a finger off."
Rachel's "teacher Halloween" vest that she wears every year.
This year she wore her hair in a bun and stuck pencils in it for added effect.
Pouting because she doesn't want to touch pumpkin guts.
We are high tech around here.
Now on to Halloween dinner.
Growing up, much to my vegetable hating dismay, every year on Halloween my mom made vegetable stew for dinner.
Now that I'm a grownup and I can (almost) tolerate vegetables, I've done the same thing for years.
Vege stew to counteract all the sugar!
Except this year, I decided to be festive.
So Mummy dogs and Monster Mouths it was.
The kids were extremely excited, not only because we didn't have stew, but because I NEVER cook hot dogs. In 15.5 years of having kids, I have never cooked hot dogs in the kitchen.
Sure, once in a while we'll throw some on the grill for a summer party, but never on a regular ol' day.
Mainly because, hot dogs? Bleeech.
We finished off the night by lighting our pumpkins and a couple of hours trick-or-treating.
Hands down, it was the warmest Halloween night we've ever had.
Instead of our usual costume wrecking snow gear, all we needed was jackets!
Harry was going for a modern aesthetic this year.
So, Halloween 2012?
A success.
