What day is it?

I've had this conversation at least once a day, every day this week.

Brick: "What day is it? Is is Saturday?"

Me: "It's _______ (insert any day but Saturday)"

Brick: "How many days till Saturday?"

Me: "Saturday is in __ days."

Brick: "First I'm gonna go to Denny's, then McDonalds, then IHOP, then Ma & Pa's...."

Finally, tomorrow is Saturday and he will get to go have his breakfast with Daddy. We've discovered that in a family with a lot of kids, where the Dad works lots of hours, and spends a lot of evenings at church functions, the kids hardly ever get any one on one time with Dad. Stick came up with this solution a couple of months ago. Each Saturday morning he takes one of the kids out to breakfast at the restaurant of their choice. I meanwhile, get to sleep in. Is that a great plan or what?

Needless to say the kids love, love, love to go out with Dad*.* The first time Proto went he was awake half the night before in anticipation and then got up at 5 am to see if Stick was ready. Brick spends a lot of time telling me in succession all the places he is planning on going. (see above conversation) Stick also enjoys their time alone, and hey, sleeping in is my favorite thing ever, so it's a win win for all involved!

**in other news** Houdini just brought me a diaper and the wipes, saying "My diaper yucky", but I can tell he is sooo not ready to potty train. I mean really, what would I do each day if I didn't have a mind blowing stink to clear out my sinuses and make my eyes water? Looking at his sickening diaper I said, "yuck. Who did that?" He took a look and replied, "A big giant". So clearly he is in denial. Besides, if I potty trained him, what would I have to blog about?
