new office
When we bought this house a few years ago, I had grand plans to turn the "formal dining" space into an office.
Last May (2011) it still looked like this:
Notice the masking tape on the floor designating where the new wall will be?
While Stick and I were in Florida last year, his parents came to babysit our kids.
His Dad, we'll call him, Stick Senior also built a wall for our new office.
He also installed the french doors.
I bought paint and intended to start painting right away, but our super crazy summer prohibited any more work.
Once the kids went back to school, I painted the hallway and the new office.
In October, I started painting the french doors but had to quit after only a coat or two.
Stick finished the doors sometime around November/December.
(Proof that he really loves me, because he hates to paint.)
Painting the door was really hard. If you come over, don't look closely at the lame-o job we did.
A month or two after that, Stick put the door handles on.
Then Stick's mom, who we'll call Mrs. Stick Senior, took off all the plastic that covered each glass pane on the french doors.
(Another difficult job.)
In the last few weeks, I put up the window treatments and we bought a desk at an antique store.
Last on our agenda is a table for the computer and I am going to recover this chair/ottoman with the green fabric in the picture below. Oh yeah, the electrical socket covers....
When we started this project, I didn't really anticipate that it would take 10+ months to finish, but we're glad to be (mostly) done.
Many, many thanks to Mr. and Mrs. Stick Senior for doing all the hard work.
We are in love with our new office!

It looks great! The last time I saw it there was still just plain sheetrock. And you're going to recover the chair? I'm very impressed. Upholstery scares me...
