book reviews

Book club pic from my friend here.

Books I've read lately:

Love, love, loved this book.  Highly recommended. In fact, I'm going to go buy it, something I never do, mainly because I'm cheap.  I don't want to spoil the story by retelling it, just trust me and go read it.

I read this with my book club a few months ago.  Truthfully I would have never read it on my own.  I quit reading boring hard books, the day I graduated from college.  It has three major sections, and I liked the first, hated the second and tolerated the third.  So there you go.  Although I have thought a lot about this book since I read it, and I usually use that as a guide to whether a book is good or not.  Let me sum up the book in one sentence.  Don't eat things your great grandma wouldn't recognize.  This caused me just a little guilt because I found myself twice while reading this book, eating a bag (a small bag!) of Cheetos.  I'm sure my great grandma would have loved Cheetos.

Good book.  Not exactly an action thriller, but a sweet story that I enjoyed.  (One short paragraph that warrants a PG-13 rating.)

I actually listened to this last week while I was painting.  Gag.  I know I don't like Nicholas Sparks yet I thought, how bad could it be?  I ended up listening to it in double time but it was still painful.

I am not a fan of mush.  I wish I could remember that for next time.

I liked this book.  Sort of.  It's a cute story, neat characters and a little humor.  But when I was all done reading, I realized that there was not one male character portrayed in a positive light.  Every single male was a loser and/or a scum.  It just so happens that I love the men in my life, my husband and my four sons, so I do not recommend this book.

What a good looking bunch of ladies! :) Too bad we can't see your sassy red shoes. Please tell me that you've found a place/reason (outside of your house) to wear them!! They are too cute to let them keep collecting dust in your closet.

I need a book club, I think I'm going to blog about this fact. Make my blog be my book club. Cause you see, I have books in my head that want to get out and be discussed. So, look forward to that treasure of a post! :)
