weekly 2015.12.20
It’s been a snowy week. The kids are getting really tired of shoveling and more snow is on its way! Bwahahahaha. Any day now they’re going to be longing for the good ol’ days of lawn mowing. It’s all good though since they didn’t shovel one single time all last winter.
This week, school was school in theory only. I told the two high schoolers that I didn’t care if they went to school on Friday. And then they both went, the crazies!
Rachel came home sometime late Friday night. I’m not sure what time it was since we were all asleep. We are super happy to have her home although she’s mildly grumpy that she’s living here basically like a homeless person. She has no room, nowhere to put her stuff and she’s sleeping in Bekah’s bed. Tough life, right?
She did however, decide today at church that she IS going to go on a mission. She will meet with our bishop on Tuesday night. I am simultaneously thrilled and nervous and happy/sad about this announcement. We will miss her so much, but I’m excited for her to have a life changing experience. She will be a fantastic missionary. (In other news, she had another date this week with her RM……)
Aaron sang with our ward choir in the Christmas program today. I’ll just state for the record that choir is not really his “thing.” He’s been going to support his friend T, who has been struggling with church lately. T lives in part of the neighborhood that was put into another ward, so suddenly he decided that he wanted to join the choir in our ward that conveniently meets at the same time as his new ward’s sacrament meeting. So I guess you could say that Aaron is helping him sluff, but at least he’s going to a ward.
All the boys went with Stick to Star Wars Friday afternoon. They came home thrilled with how great it was. Spencer declared it the best movie he had ever seen. Ha.
We had a busy wild Saturday but did fit in watching ¾ of the bowl game. We spent the last ¼ at Spencer’s basketball game. Harry was surprisingly ok with the final score, even after praying about the game that morning in family prayer. I think the fact that BYU redeemed themselves by the end softened the blow for him.
Stick and I went to the WBC Christmas party at Tuscany last night. It was as fun as usual, making small talk while eating dinner with strangers. Good times.
Bekah spent some time this afternoon telling me how “swag” she was. Ha! She is completely happy about Christmas this week and totally “believes” despite, well, you know……She also spent the afternoon prancing around and spinning in her Christmas dress that she did not want to take off after church. It’s pretty adorable watching her admire her own skirt as she twirls.
Spencer and Harry are both playing on basketball teams this year that are …..well, struggling. We will just consider it a “growing” year and hope that lots can be learned. Stick is coaching Harry’s team and there are so many areas that the boys need help, he doesn’t even know where to begin.
We are leaving for Oceanside on Saturday. Harry started wearing his swimsuit today, so I guess he’s excited.
Oh yeah, we are also getting our new carpet put in while we are gone. So not only do we get to do Christmas, and pack for a trip but we have to clear out rooms and move furniture! All my favorite stress triggers.
YAY FOR CHRISTMAS WEEK!
