weekly 2015.5.3
Bekah has turned into a full-fledged tree hugger this week. We keep hearing things like, “Reduce, Reuse & Recycle” along with “You shouldn’t cut down trees and you should take shorter showers.” And she told us she’s pledged (to the friend next door) to only eat meat once a month. I’m pretty confident that the next time we grill steaks she’ll forget all about her pledge. She is a total meat lover.
Harry fasted successfully today for the full 24 hours. He didn’t think he would make it and felt really sick by the end, but he did it. We are proud of him for his efforts.
Spencer went to see the new Avengers movie on Friday with a friend. He came home thrilled with the movie and frustrated because we wouldn’t let him talk about it and spoil it for everyone. Although he can talk about it with me, I don’t care if I see the movie, I didn’t even like the first one.
Thomas and Aaron had quite the week playing volleyball. Tuesday night was long and miserable. The whole team played horrible and they lost five out of their six sets. Including four sets to teams ranked at the bottom. I think they all got discouraged right off the bat and things just got worse as the night went on.
However, on Thursday night, the first night of the tournament, it felt like a completely different team showed up. They lost the first set, won the second and then won the tie breaker to the team ranked third (we were ranked sixth). It was quite thrilling and the boys were all so adorably happy. They play again on Tuesday night.
Aaron spent the day Monday at BYU competing in the State Math Tournament. Once the testing was done they got to walk around campus and eat lunch at the Cannon Center. He said the Cannon Center was “Chuck a Rama on steroids” so, clearly, it was awesome. Then a bunch of the different majors had booths set up on campus, showing demonstrations of what they were about with things like 3-D printers and some kind of stretchy metal that I can’t remember the name of right now. Aaron loved it all and came home excited about the whole college experience.
Rachel is still loving her job and worked a lot of hours this week as they get busier and busier with garden season in full swing. She always comes home with stories of all the crazy customers that come though. It reminds me of my days cashiering at Valley Sports. If you ever want to get a view of a good slice of society, work as a cashier. I guarantee you’ll see a little bit of everything. And then some.
