AFAAAH reunion 2015
Immediately after the graduation frenzy, and the Eagle Scout frenzy, we went to a family reunion up in Big Cottonwood Canyon at a place called Bear Trap Lodge.
I think these pictures make the lodge (cabin) look a little small, but it's really pretty big inside.
Our group of 30 +- fit just fine. It has beds for 24 and 4 1/2 baths. Several of the kids slept up in a loft at the very top of the A-frame in sleeping bags.
We mostly just hung around and visited while the kids played.
I was in charge of a few activities 'cause clearly I am the most fun kid in the family. (har-de-har-har)
One of the activities was "kid's zip line" off the porches.
They had fun zipping things down the lines.
Lots of different gaming went on, on several different levels.
Down in the basement the big kids played pool and ping pong and watched tons of tv. On the main floor we played other games, and the kids also played games non-stop up on the 2nd level.
One afternoon we played the "Minute to Win it games" that I organized.
"How many sugar cubes can you stack on a Popsicle stick in one minute."
*"Move 40 red cups from top to bottom until you get to the green cup"
She's going through a cooperative stage.
"Flip the pencil, bounce it on the eraser and land it in the coffee cup"
(This was way harder than I thought it would be.)
Another popular game that I didn't organize was, "Play with the red yarn."
The kids had all kinds of fun dropping the yarn down from the various balconies inside and out, mostly to torture whoever was below.
**"Pick up an M&M with a straw and pass to your partner who then places it on top of another straw"
One of the mornings the big kids hiked up to Silver Lake with Uncle E so we took the littles on a "Nature Scavenger Hike." They were so adorable looking for each of the things and marking it off on their papers. It cracked me up how serious they each took it.
This girl did not care about her "Nature Scavenger Hunt" paper. She was all about the rocks. (Check out her sweater pockets!)
I stole borrowed these next pictures from my sister*.
Thanks LEA!
We had a family picture taken.
This is a picture of the picture being taken.
A game we played for FHE (organized by Grandma and ALA.)
The only thing I didn't get a picture of was the Lip Sync contest, where despite lots of advanced invitation and notice, my family was the only one who actually participated!
Siblings, consider yourselves warned, you're not getting off the hook so easy next time.
We also had two nights of "Talent Show" for the kids, where they did things like somersaults and then we all clapped enthusiastically. We intended to do this only one night, but the kids could not get enough of all that fun clapping attention, so two nights it was!
The Reunion was a blast.
We were there Monday through Thursday but it didn't seem nearly long enough.
Love you all, my fam.
