best of state 2014

We attended the Best of State Awards Gala last Wednesday.

Sadly, we didn't sit with the governor this time. You know, if I'm not going to dine with high ranking government officials, it's hardly worth my time.

Kidding!

Can you see Stick in the picture? He's the very last guy on the left.

Oddly enough, I got a picture of the man next to him getting a medal hung around his neck, but not Stick. Oh well, take my word for it, he got a medal around his neck too. It was special. Well, it wasn't his own personal medal, it was technically for his company, but whatever. Details, details, tomato, to-mah-toe.

We've gone to Best of State a bunch of times now. I will admit, that I'm sort of over it. In our early days of attending, I would go buy a new outfit, shoes, and stress about getting ready, my hair, makeup, etc.

This time, I found out two days before the gala that we were going.

I promptly decided I would wear my LBD* and call it good.

My new plan of action is so much easier!

The food is generally good, and the entertainment is always fun. The actual awarding of the medals is always a snooze, but it's mostly done while you eat, so it's doable.

We sat about 10 feet from Gail Miller, who I admire, and she and I both had on black polka dot nylons, so we are obviously BFFs. (Although her shoes were a little more sensible than mine.)

*LBD: Little Black Dress

(The same dress I wore the night we dined with The Gov.)

I don't know who Gail Miller is and if I was sitting by her I am sure I would have no idea. But fun! Looks like a fancy night!
