weekly 2015.9.13

I missed my weekly last week ‘cause of Hawaii. I’m going to blog about it so I won’t say much here, but Maui was amazing. It was also amazingly HOT. I mean HOT HOT HOT. Like record breaking heat and humidity. Like so hot I could just sit there doing nothing and my fingers would be sweating, hot. But still, Maui!

The kids had lots of fun here at home with their ID grandparents. It was so nice to come home to a clean house with a crock pot full of dinner waiting. After a miserable night consisting of three different flights to get home, it was all I could do to keep my eyes open until 6:30 pm. I was in bed by 7. And I’ve almost forgiven Rachel for calling us with an urgent item to discuss at 11:45pm. (In her defense, she forgot about the whole red eye flight thing.)

We are pretty much back to normal now. I feel like we’ve been going crazy non-stop for weeks so it’s been nice to have a few normal days.

Bekah invited her cute friend from next door, Brita to come to church with us today. She told me that she warned Brita that sacrament meeting was boring, but the rest would be fun.

Harry told me this week that he didn’t miss Rachel that much, except for when they were working because she usually did most of the work. (Stinker.)

Spencer went to the temple again Friday morning with his cute friends. What a blessing it is that we live less than five minutes from the temple and these cute 12-year-old boys can go before school.

Thomas and Stick went to the Tim McGraw concert last night. (I said no thanks because I needed to finish my RS lesson) Thomas said it was fun but loud. Which is true, the seats are really close and the concerts are killer loud. We wear ear plugs and can still hear everything. He also got to witness a bunch of drunk ladies in the men’s bathroom, so that was eye-opening for him.

Aaron has been hired temporarily as the closing manager at his job. The kid who has been doing it is leaving on a mission this week. So Aaron will do it until they hire someone permanently, (it’s supposed to be someone 18 or older). It’s more hours each day and a nice pay raise so he will enjoy it while it lasts.

Rachel is having lots of fun at BYU. I hope she can find time to write a weekly today. She went to the football game last night and said it was insane. If you happened to be watching, she was one of the many students that stormed the field after that incredible win.

The most amazing thing happened to me on Friday (I seem to be using the word amazing a lot today. Oh well, deal with it.) I guess I should say amazing and sad. I was out running some dumb errands Friday morning when a friend of mine from Ecuador stopped by our house to see me. I didn’t know she was coming and she didn’t have my phone number so she just stopped by hoping to catch me. She lives in Toronto now and was here on her way to drop off her daughter at BYU-I. And I was gone when she came. As I was driving home, right in my own neighborhood. I passed a car and thought to myself, “that driver looked exactly like Laura Gonzalez. But no, it couldn’t be, she lives in Toronto.” And then I forgot about it until hours later when I found her note on my front door. I pretty much cried, I was so sad to have missed her. On Saturday, we talked on the phone for about 45 minutes while she was in Denver on a layover on her way back home. I still feel so sad that I missed seeing her. I made her promise that she will come again next time she’s in town and she has my phone number now so hopefully someday I can see her again.
