a list
Yesterday at the end of the day I wondered if I had accomplished anything, so I hurried outside and pulled weeds for 45 minutes before it got dark.
Never mind that the kids did some fence painting (Which totally requires me. As in-"yes, you will do it! Get moving! Paint little slave! Paint!"-with lots of mean mom task master eyes involved). Never mind that I worked in the yard in the morning. Never mind that I took all 6 kids to swimming lessons (25 miles away) and Target. Never mind that I had to negotiate for a long time with the boys about all the truly hideous shirts they wanted to buy for school. ("No we do not buy shirts that have Bakugon or Avatar on them.") Never mind that 3 meals were eaten. Never mind that I spent a long time on the phone scheduling dentist appointments, Opthamologist appointments and signing up the boys for soccer. Never mind that I was helplessly involved in 68 minutes of arguing over who got to sit where in the car. Never mind that I had to eat lots of Hootis' latest culinary delight. (Seriously yum.) Never mind that I clothed, changed and napped Reb. Never mind that Hootis and Rooney had piano lessons. Never mind that I cleaned up approximately 5 pounds of dried play dough off the kitchen floor and table. (Note to self-Do not accept 5 large packages of "free" play dough from the kind librarian. It's totally not worth it.) Never mind that I caught up on some serious scripture reading. (We're having a contest to read the BOM in 2 months with the kids. I was a tad bit behind. Not anymore.) Yet despite doing all those things, and a lot more that I can't remember, I still felt like I hadn't accomplished much.
After pulling the weeds I felt better. It's a little sad really.
Instead of a "To Do" list I should carry around a "Things I've done Today" list. I would feel much better at the end of the day!

Your day sounds exhausting to me. I'm glad part of what you got done was eating something yummy that someone else made!
