Someone mentioned “Fiddler on the Roof” in a talk at church, so I decided that we definitely needed to watch it today. A rare treat indeed! We don’t really watch tv on Sunday, but once in a great while we make an exception for gospel themed things, like Fiddler, obviously. What? We ARE reading the Old Testament this year! As I type, we are laughing at awesome ol’ Teyva. What a hoot. Go ahead and admit it, you’re singing tradition to yourself right now! The power of suggestion you know.
We just got in from a kid’s photo shoot in the backyard. Just the other day “Christmas cards” were mentioned, and I decided to get right on it, instead of our usual late November frozen photo shoot where I have to shoot the picture in 14 seconds before everyone’s nose turns red.
I thought we’d do a “fall leaves” themed pic, this year. Which was a great idea in my head, but in reality, um, hard. It turns out, falling leaves obscure lots of things like your children’s faces. And throwing leaves makes people move, which makes blurry pictures. And then your daughter’s hair fills with leaves, which makes her start to cry. And then you threaten her that she better get smiling OR ELSE. So yes, our Christmas cards are going to be AWESOME.
We had UEA this week. We had plans to go to ID on Friday afternoon until today. However I woke up Thursday morning super sick with a sore throat from the dark side, a fever and head/body aches, effectively cancelling our plans. (I told Stick to take the kids and go without me but he wouldn’t.) So the kids watched a couple of movies, played with the few neighborhood kids who were still home and still had a pretty fun time. The weather has been amazing, so that helped. Stick came home early on Friday and took them all to Chuck-a-Rama and then we watched a movie, which they all seemed pretty happy about. I mean, sure, their friends went to Disneyland, New York, San Francisco, and college visits. But can those things even compare to Chuck-a-Rama? Yeah, I didn’t think so either. (ha!)
Tomorrow we are back to business with school and work. Just for the record, the kids have not had school yet this month on a Friday. This Friday they do, but it’s a short day and then next Friday is Halloween. And we all know that Halloween is always a productive educational day.
Rachel has her final ACT test on Saturday, and her Halloween dance. Our ward is doing the International Day of Service too and we have two soccer games. Are you wondering what the best part of UEA was? Everything was cancelled and we could just “be”.
over and out.
