flag project

Years ago I saw a big wooden flag that I liked enough to put in my mental file to recreate some day.

Knowing that Stick would be gone for a week for Scout Camp, I decided that it would be as good a time as any.

I usually prefer to do my projects alone, but this time I enlisted the kid's help, which they thought was super fun.

I hand painted each star which was not that fun. First I used a star shaped sponge to stamp paint on each spot. But then I decided that the stamp was too big, so I had to go around each spot with blue paint to make it smaller. Then I filled in the stamp with white paint. All this times 50 stars was pretty aggravating.

Like most projects that I start, at the beginning I think, how hard could it be? I could do that! Not really thinking about the reality of hand painting 50 stars.

Oh well, live and learn.

(Except that I don't usually learn.)

I really love how it turned out, so I guess it was all worth it!
