weekly 2015.5.24

Bekah learned how to climb a tree yesterday. We were out in the yard and I looked over and Harry had tied a rope to her waist and was hoisting her up a tree. She was wearing a skirt of course, and today she is covered from head to toe in scratches. Her front tooth is getting quite loose and it’s turning a little grey, so hopefully it will come out soon and she will look a little less like a hillbilly prom queen.

Harry and Bekah spent the entire week not playing with friends and trying to clean up their room. Let’s just say it was challenging for everyone involved.

Spencer had try outs for his comp soccer team. So many kids showed up the coaches had trouble deciding if there was going to be one team or if there was enough for two teams, so tryouts will continue this week.

Thomas spent all week making props for the 8th grade “Civil War Camp Day” on Friday. He was part of the “Oddities & Inventions” exhibit. I’m not sure what “Steam Punk” has to do with the Civil War, but whatever.

Aaron and his friend Tate are collecting scrap metal to melt down in Tate’s homemade forge. Once the metal is melted down they are going to make cool metal stuff. What the cool metal stuff will be, is yet to be determined.

Rachel has senioritis. (I think I wrote that same thing last week.) One of her classes is AP Study hall and since all the AP classes are all over the class is useless. One day this week I checked InstaGram and saw that she and her friend Riley were at Alta taking pictures in the bathroom and looking for their friend Danielle who goes to Alta. Keep in mind that this was in the middle of the school day and she goes to Corner Canyon. She assured me it was ok, ‘cause it was during AP Study Hall. Um, ok.

Rachel was invited to the CCHS Senior Awards banquet. There’s two hours of my life I’ll never get back. She qualified for most of the awards but either didn’t apply or wasn’t willing to pay the $7 each for the “honor cords” to wear at the graduation ceremony. She did get an award at the very end for qualifying for the “Advanced Honors Diploma” which came with a (free) golden cord thing to wear at graduation. She makes me laugh.

Stick and I had our annual “Memorial Day Weekend Shopping at the Outlets” date Friday night. I’m ridiculously happy about a cute pair of boots I got at Bass that were only $10. I’ll have fun wearing them next winter.

I feel like I need to now complain a little about the weather. Holy moly SO MUCH RAIN. Even mowing the lawn is becoming challenging, ‘cause we have to keep finding the windows of no rain to mow quickly in. My front porch flower pot is struggling cause of all the water so today I’ve finally moved it so it can dry out a little.  Ok, enough with the whining already.

Over and out.
