weekly 2014.6.23
Rebekah went to a “Fancy Nancy Explorer Extraordinaire” activity at our library with her friend S. They got necklaces, notebooks, plastic magnifying glasses, and explorer hats. There was lemonade and cookies and several fun crafts. It turned out to be much more than I expected and of course she was thrilled with it all. (I suppose it was paid for with our tax money?) She is starting a little once a week dance class taught by a 12 year old girl in our ward. It’s only $2/week and she can NOT wait to start.
Harry and Spencer are off to Cub Scout day camp this morning. They were pretty excited to go despite my insistence that they bring a jacket and you know, wear socks. (Moms can be such a drag.)
Rachel heads off to Girl’s Camp tomorrow. She is a YCL (Youth Camp Leader) this year. I can’t believe how much preparation goes into camp. She had meetings almost every single day last week. (It’s a good thing I’m not the Camp Director because we would do nothing cute or fun, due to my grumpiness.) Rachel designed the camp shirts and the people that silk screened them said they’re the best looking Camp shirts they’ve ever done. She survived her first week at Sonic and lived to tell about it. Like all new jobs, it gets easier every day. She works today but then has the rest of the week off for Girl’s Camp. She’s only been working about 3-5 hours a few days a week which is just right. Enough to give her something to do along with some free time.
Thomas and Spencer had their Regional Track meet last Thursday. They started getting really nervous when we arrived and saw that there were tons of kids and they all belonged to actual track teams. As opposed to our boys, who belong to the Farr Family Track Team (that was organized 13 days ago). They did well and got ribbons in each event, but they didn’t qualify to go to State. I was proud of them because they competed against kids who it was pretty apparent have been training for a long time. Thomas took 12 seconds off his 800, which is pretty great for only 13 days of training.
In employment news, WBC won a huge bid last week. They will be re-doing I-15 from 12300 to Thanksgiving Point. This is the biggest job they’ve ever done as the primary, and guess who will be the project manager? We’ve been really spoiled the last few years with Stick working mostly normal hours, but those days are over. He’s going to be insanely busy with the new job. Wish us luck!
