weekly 2015.3.22

We had a busy day yesterday. Stick and Thomas picked up all the donated food for "Scouting for Food", then house cleaning jobs, then Spencer’s soccer game, then Stick and the kids got the trailer ready and headed to the mulch place to pick up a huge load of mulch and compost. Then they delivered the mulch to a neighbor, then a quick dinner followed by a trip to Stick’s offices for their cleaning job. They got home around 10 pm last night.

In case none of that made sense, we are currently doing two different businesses with the kids. They clean all the trailers at Stick’s job site each week. And we just started taking orders and hauling mulch/compost to anyone who orders it. The kids got the sales fliers ready last week and passed them out to our whole ward/neighborhood. Sadly we got them out just barely too late, several of our neighbors had already ordered the big yellow bags. Hopefully we can get the word out earlier next year. We could have saved the neighbors money and still made a profit for the kids.

In addition to all that craziness, Aaron and Thomas were at our ward Youth Conference for most of the day yesterday, at Aspen Grove. They were both exhausted when they got home because everyone messed around all night and they hardly slept. They thought Youth Conference was just ok. I may have heard the comment, “It was like Sunday School all day long on Saturday.” They were hoping for more activities and less Sunday School I guess, but since there is no snow, all the snow activities got cancelled.

Rachel wasn’t able to go to Youth Conference because she had to work on Friday night and Saturday at her new job. So far she loves the job and says everyone is super nice there. Not that she didn’t love working with all the drug addicts at Sonic, but I think she’s going to like this job better. The lady training her said she was picking it up much faster that people usually do, so she was happy about that, even though there is a lot to learn.

Rachel had a date last night with Truman, who makes her heart go pitter pat. It was a double date, but she didn’t really know the other couple. They went hiking, then had pork tacos and played games at Truman’s house. She came home happy. The kids around here aren’t really doing a lot of casual dating for some reason. They do the big things like Prom or Homecoming, but no regular weekend dates. Because of that, Rachel’s date caused quite a bit of excitement among the Laurels and her friend announced it to all the young women during opening exercises today. Ha!

At Spencer’s soccer game yesterday, a mom sitting next to us asked, “How old is your son? He’s so tall!” He was literally a head taller than everyone else on the field. He was happy about his scored goal but grumpy because he hurt his knee during the game.

In other news, I made my pizza last week and it was SO great. I will definitely make it again. Assuming of course, I can plan 24 hours in advance. Allie/Katie, the app also offered a gluten free recipe option if you’re interested.

In other other news, I’ve been ordering Chat Books from my InstaGram account. I’ve ordered about 9 volumes so far and still have a bunch to order. Every single Sunday, the kids all sit around and look and look at them, even when they looked at them all last week. It’s surprising to me. I also have finally ordered my first printed Blog book. It will cover the years 2006-2007, so yeah, I still have a ways to go on that but I’m finally getting to it after all this time. It’s been one of my goals since the kids are all in school now.

In other other other news, Stick’s church ball team won our regional tournament Friday night. It was kind of a rough game to say the least, and I was relieved when it was all over and no one was hurt. It was pretty much a miracle.
