Rachel had a track meet this week at Orem High. She jumped the same exact height in high jump and was grumpy about it, but threw the discus much farther and got a PR. Ironically, she's hardly practiced discus lately focusing more on high jump.
Aaron has been doing all kind of computer and Arduino programming. He bought some more Arduino parts from Amazon. Are you wondering what Arduino is? Yeah, me too. Here's what their website says: Arduino is an open-source electronics prototying platform based on flexible, easy-to-use hardware and software. It's intended for artists, designers, hobbyists and anyone interested in creating interactive objects or environments. Well, duh, that explains everything. All I know is that it keeps him busy and it's a fun/educational/creative hobby.
Thomas spent several days outside this week using tools, wood and rope and built himself some nun-chucks. I've spent my whole life thinking they were called nuM-chucks and apparently I was wrong. You learn something new everyday. Especially when your life is filled with boys. Also, nunchucks? Por que Thomas, por que?
Spencer had to write an essay for DARE this week. After he asked me how many paragraphs it should be, he sat right down and typed it out without stopping once. He always says he's a terrible writer and he hates it, but I was really impressed with his essay. He did a great job for a 10 year old. Also, since when does DARE (drug abuse resistance education) include "Bullying"? He has DARE graduation this week. Will I be the worst mom ever if I don't go? 'Cause I don't particularly enjoy graduation ceremonies of any kind, especially for something as dumb, ridiculous, educational as DARE.
Harry scored two goals in his soccer game this week. His cute little team of buddies is really great. The final game score was 10-0. (sorry, other team) He is really loving being on a winning team and I'm loving seeing how far he's come since fall soccer. He was a little green back then and didn't always know what he was supposed to be doing. That is no longer the case!
Rebekah had a field trip to the Hogle Zoo on Thursday. She was so excited about it she could hardly stand the anticipation. When it was over, I asked about it and she seemed sort of indifferent about the whole thing. I think she was just tired after a long day. She did ask me though, "Why are the polar bears living here and not in Antarctica?" Pretty good question.
Stick had his 44th birthday on Friday. He celebrated by going camping with the scouts in the freezing, pouring, rain. Good times.
