day of service 2011

Our family participated in the worldwide Day of Service last Saturday.

We attended a baptism that morning, then a soccer game, then we squeezed in for the last hour of service with our ward (congregation).

Our ward split into three groups. One group served at a local Rehab Center, one group worked on the mountain near our homes that burned this summer, and one group at various homes of widows and widowers in our neighborhood.

The manly men in our family did yard work and I washed windows.

When I was done I thought to myself, "I really should do this at my own house some time!"

(I swiped these photos off my friend's blog....)

When all the service was done, we met at the church for a "Harvest Dinner" potluck.

It was fun to serve with so many good friends and people.

It instilled a good sense of community.

I love our neighborhood!
