so how was your turkey?

So, Thanksgiving 2009. We had big plans. We'd invited Stick's family to party at our house. We planned on having a house full of almost 30 people. We started getting ready on Monday. We planned, we shopped, we cleaned. Then one by one, Tuesday night, we started throwing up. First Hootis, then Brick, then Houdini, then Stick, and then in the wee hours of the night, me. So much for the plan. The picture below pretty much sums up our day Wednesday.

By Thursday, most of us felt good enough to get out of bed and at least head for the couch. It was a lazy day of pj's and movies. Stick managed to cook our turkey and some mashed potatoes. I made a few other small things and we had our own family feast. Although due to the state of things, we didn't eat much.

Thanksgiving day also happened to be Rooney's birthday. He didn't have quite the party we had expected, but still had a happy day.

No cake for this boy, blueberry pie was requested and delivered.

Some of us eagerly browsed the Black Friday ads.

We created our traditional gumdrop turkeys.

Reb kept trying her escape to freedom.

So Thanksgiving, 2009. Not really what we planned or expected. Yet, we had a nice day, we spent it together, we are blessed in many ways that we often forget.

Friday night, we decided that since Thanksgiving 2009 was over, we might as well head right into Christmas 2009.

The end!

(at least for today.)
