spelling bee 2012
Yesterday I headed to the school for the Spelling Bee.
The 4th, 5th and 6th grade were competing.
Oddly enough, Thomas didn't know he would represent his class until 5 minutes before the competition. So he hadn't studied, but judging from past year's performance, he wouldn't have studied anyway!
Aaron did know he'd be competing and he studied.
Yes, he studied really hard 30 minutes before school started.
My boys like to live dangerously.
Studying is obviously for whimps.
Thomas lasted several rounds but was eventually eliminated on the word, "laborious."
Aaron lasted even longer, until there were only 4 kids left.
He managed to spell "Chickabiddy" (who ever heard of that word???) but then was eliminated on "manifestation".
(It makes me wonder how they would do if they actually studied.... I may never know.)
Nevertheless, good job boys!

I still remember the word that eliminated me in the Spelling Bee in 6th grade.
I remember thinking, "Holy? Holey? WHAT??????"
(My children get tired of me with the camera in their face ALL the time. Aaron's coping mechanism is to slouch. Stinker.)
