oh baby baby

A friend of mine is expecting a long awaited baby girl next month. She had a baby shower last week. I usually only make "home sewn" gifts for family, but I decided to make her a blanket anyway. I spent a good hour last week in our local fabric store looking for just the right fabric. (Much to Brick and Houdini's dismay. Believe me, they don't suffer in silence.) I just couldn't find anything that suited me. The "mom to be" is not that girly-girl, more sporty, so I didn't want to go with standard "baby girl pink". I left the store empty handed. The next fabric option was (gasp!) our local Wal Mart. They don't ever have that big of a selection, but many times they have just what I want. Sure enough, I found this adorable fabric.

I stitched it up with the print on one side, the soft cream flannel on the other and edged it in red rick-rack. Voila! It was completely adorable, (if I do say so myself) and the hit of the party. yay me. The only sad part is that I forgot to take a picture before I gave the blanket away, the above is just the extra fabric.
