easter 2013
Confession:
I've never actually "done" Easter.
With the exception of two newlywed years in Walnut Creek, we have gone to my in-laws for every single Easter weekend in our 16 years of marriage. (Except last year when we were sick.) Now this year, they are in Ohio serving their mission.
What? I am on my own for Easter festivities? Do I even know how to boil and color eggs? What, no picnic? No cheese balls? No cousins?
The kids spent the whole weekend moaning that it "just didn't even feel like Easter!" Poor babies.
Despite the sorry state of things, we did manage to color the eggs.
I had decided weeks ago to not bother with Easter dresses this year. I can't remember the reason for my Easter scroogieness......
Then Saturday afternoon, around 1:30ish, I decided to make Rebekah a dress. I already had the fabric and a really easy/quick pattern. So I did. A couple of hours later, she was set.
I told Rachel she was out of luck, because I did not have fabric in my stash to make another dress. But then I felt guilty and ran to Down East Outfitters and bought her a dress. Is it just me or is it shocking that my daughter wears a size XS?
Sunday after church we went to the other Grandma's house for a delicious meal and an Easter Egg hunt! See? We can be fun too!
Pre-hunt line up.
Some of the eggs had money in them.
Guess which parent filled this egg?
And which parent filled this egg?
Post egg hunt discussion on the complexities of the universe with Grandma.
Grandma is a knitter now.
The little knit bunny you see below invoked all kinds of discussion and admiration among the children.
All in all I'd call it a successful Easter.
Oh yeah, except for this:
I've grown Easter wheat grass before.
I have proof. But last year was miserable
and this year was worse.
This is my second attempt this year and absolutely nothing grew. Either time.
Oh and then there's the eggs that I boiled.....
I did two different batches and half the eggs look like this.
Bleech.
Runny eggs disturb me.
Happy Easter!

Loved hearing the blog. :)
...we can't boil stupid eggs either. Or we can but can't get the shells off without anger and just throwing them away. We found a thing called...Eggies
https://www.geteggiestv.com/?tag=im|sm|go|tm&a_aid=011&a_bid=532e311e
and takes a few minutes to prepare, NO SHELL!
Awesomeness! :)

Um, those eggs weren't runny, they were "soft boiled". And they are DELICIOUS! I love mine that way and now my kids do too. They are one of our favorite Sunday mornings breakfasts--yum!
