oceanside recap - paddle & skim boards - 2013
We decided we wanted to try some other ocean toys this year, so Stick went to a local shop and rented a paddle board, two skim boards and a surf board. (It wasn't even that expensive.)
Stick tried the paddle board. It proved to be a little tricky at first.
But he's tenacious and kept at it and after a few falls he could totally do it.
Then Thomas and Aaron gave it a try. It was apparent that the smaller and lighter you are the easier it is! The boys both hopped up their first try.

Aaron.
Spencer also tried the paddle board, but immediately after I took this picture the wave crashed him over and he didn't feel that enthusiastic about getting on again.
The skim board was much harder than it looks. Harry was the first to figure it out but it took quite a bit of practice.
The technique involved throwing the board out in front of you to skim on top of the shallow water and then jumping on it at just the right time to ride on top of the water.
The guy at the rental shop warned Stick to not even try it, saying, "It's a kids toy." Thomas also figured it out, but the other kids never did really get it.

Um, why is your blog still private? Bugs me...'cause sometimes I forget to type yours in and then I have 15 posts to read-- which is fun, but hard to comment all on.
So here's my comments: 1. Your poor boys-- Awkk! Terrible!
2. boggie boardin = the best. I'm glad you went.
3. Frozen= really fun. WE went and had our friends watch our baby, which was really nice.
4. What else? Oh, ...um, hi.
