thumbs and ribbon

This darling girl has developed a naughty habit. She keeps sucking her thumb on the sly. We haven't had a thumb sucker yet (Brick sucked for about 1 day and then quit) so I think it's awfully cute. Baby thumb suckers are always cute. Not so cute when they're 7 year old thumb suckers. Hopefully we won't get that far.

The above picture is what kept me occupied over most of the last week. I was once again invited to "do" all the decorations for our Stake Leadership Christmas breakfast. Last year was a breeze because I knew that I had 4 Rubbermaid bins chock full of decorations from the "Festival of Trees" tree we inherited.

But of course, I could not repeat the decorations this year could I? How tragic would that be? So I had to start with a blank slate. A blank slate and get this: No budget. And approximately 20 tables that needed decor. Stick said, "don't worry about the budget, get whatever you need." He's so generous! Being the cheapskate that I am though, I managed to pull it off without spending too much.

Cute striped paper: Target dollar section, Green glass candlesticks: from our wedding 12 years ago, Red candles: IKEA, White candles: wedding, Fake ivy:wedding, large red ribbon: Costco, Red ornaments: WalMart, Miscellaneous Vintage Postcards: printed off the internet, mounted on green paper and embellished with glitter, Candy cane holders for vintage postcards: idea from Real Simple.

Yes, I was glittering postcards until midnight several nights last week. Ahh, the dedication.

That's probably why I spent the weekend sick. I managed to get the decorations up, but the missed the party. They tell me it was fabulous. I guess I'll take their word for it!

Really really cute decor...I couldn't have pulled that off in a million years.
