weekly 2015.8.9

I picked up the boys on Friday night in Pleasant View and things are happy and noisy once again.  Then Aaron left this afternoon for a week of fun in Oceanside with his friend from church, Tate. He’s not going to know what to do, visiting Oceanside when it’s hot outside! I hope he has a great time.

We had so much fun watching the twinners this week. It was much easier than I anticipated. They were so cute and we pretty much just sat around and played with them and admired their cuteness. But if I had to be their real mother and cook, clean and conduct regular life, I imagine it would be much harder.

Rachel got another job this week! Ha. She was contacted by the Twilight Zone in the bookstore for an interview. She didn’t really want to do it, but I pretty much nagged her into it ‘cause the Twilight Zone is 20hrs/week and the Creamery was only 12+. She really needs the 20 hours a week to keep her budget happy. So she went to the interview and felt like it went pretty well until right at the end when she lost her marbles and said, “So how hard is it to get time off?” She came home sure that she didn’t get the job because of that silly question, but about 2 hours later they called and said, “You’re hired, can you start tomorrow?” She still had her heart set on the Creamery at this point so she was a little grumpy. But then after her first day of training she came home happy, happy because a really cute boy trained with her. So all is well in the universe. She then worked every day, and is getting really sick of driving to Provo. I told her to enjoy it because once school starts she is not going to have a car and will be stuck in Provo!

Bekah got new glasses and they’re very cute. She and Harry start swimming lessons tomorrow with Rachel’s friend Truman (hubba hubba). They both know how to swim, but we realized while watching them swim at Eden that they need to perfect their skills a little.

We hosted a family reunion for my mom’s extended family yesterday at our church pavilion. It was super fun to see cousins and aunts and uncles. Last time we hosted, two years ago, it was dark and cold and poured rain so everyone ate the meal and went home. Yesterday the weather was perfect and everyone stayed until dark and then some. We brought a bunch of balls and all the kids played football, baseball, four square, etc.  I ran around and took pictures of everyone, and was completely exhausted by the time we finally got home. I’m still exhausted today but it was worth it, family is everything. We will see most everyone again tomorrow at the funeral of my Aunt Margie.

A week or two ago, Bekah told me she’d had a long conversation with our neighbor about parking in the handicap parking spot. She asked the neighbor, while out running errands with her and her daughter, why she didn’t park in the handicap spot? The neighbor replied that she wasn’t handicapped so she couldn’t park there. Bekah then came home and asked me who in our family was handicapped? I told her me, ‘cause I have MS. She then at a later time went and reported to the neighbors that her mom was handicapped because she has MS. When the daughter asked, “What is MS?” Bekah replied, “Oh, it’s a sickness that makes your face turn red.” BWA ha ha ha ha ha ha!
