time for my weekly weather rant
I spent a lot of time last winter assuring my new neighbors that it was , the worst winter we had ever had, that it usually isn't this cold, or wet or freezing or cold or snowy or cold. I assured them it was unusual and usually our winters were more mild.
That Mother Nature, she certainly doesn't like to be categorized does she? Not to be outdone by last winter, this year has brought all new kinds of fun.
Like our driveway which has been a 3" sheet of glacier ice for the last month. It poured rain all night, last night, causing the glacier ice to melt to a nice 2" sheet with 1" of water on top. Good times. Then there was the freezing fog a few days ago which caused everything to be covered in ice crystals.
There's been tons of snow and it's been so cold, it's still everywhere. My eyes about bulged out of my head this morning when I saw a few blades of green grass, where the rain had melted the snow. I haven't seen anything green for over a month.
Hootis is trying to grow some seeds for her Science Project. We usually do this in our sunny west facing kitchen window. Unfortunately, we haven't had any sun in over a week and there is no sun in the forecast for the next week. Will a desk lamp from IKEA simulate sunlight? I guess we'll see.
