it's not all fun and games and swimming this summer
Nothing like a good old sweaty job to make your kid's summer complete!
~
Yesterday they mowed the lawns.
Today they're edging around our patio.
Hootis pointed out last night that our neighbor has a "neat tool that will do edging that we could probably use!"
To which, Stick replied, "We have FOUR edgers, why would we need that tool?"
BWAAAA HAAAA HAAAA ha ha ha!
~
Stick and I both grew up doing a lot of work. In fact, I remember vowing as a kid that I would "NEVER have a garden when I grew up!" because of all the slave labor work I did there as a kid.
But my tune has changed and we do have a garden and lots of good little workers who are probably making vows of their own.
~
We want the kids to be good workers, to know the value of a job well done, to have confidence in their own ability, and most of all to not be sissy city kids! (Or suburb kids.)

Next on the docket.......painting our fence!
Poor little Tom Sawyers.

On an unrelated note, last night we were swimming. Houdini was on the diving board and we expected him to do a cannon ball. However, we were all left with our mouths hanging open, when he jumped off the board and did a flip in mid air before splashing into the water!
