a letter to Russia

Dear Mom,

Hi.  How's Russia?  I like you.  Do you like me?

Guess what?  It's cold there, but still summer* here!

Remember how when you used to live in America we would take a "garden tour" every time I came over?  Sometimes causing our significant others to roll their eyes and wonder how in the world we could be looking at the flowers again....

Here is your tour of my yard, proof that it's still HOT here.

I learned this summer that Scarlet Runner Bean likes lots of hot sun, but lots of water too.  I've tried my best to kill this plant three or four times.....

My Russian Sage.

Love.

The above and below pictures are the flowers I grew from Dollar Store "Wildflower seeds." I know!  Last year I paid good money for Not-Dollar Store seeds and they didn't grow.  Go figure.

Now, proof the summer will be gone soon and Fall, glorious Fall will be here:

Notice though, with the exception of the zucchini flower and the pumpkin, there are no garden pictures.   Turns out that, if you don't water your garden**.......it won't grow. Weird.

*While Skyping the other day we discussed the weather.

** Now that summer is almost over and our garden is TOTALLY LAME, we have discovered that I thought the sprinklers were watering the garden....and they weren't.  Stick thought I was watering the garden.....and I wasn't, because the sprinklers were/weren't.  Apparently water is an essential part of proper gardening.  Good to know.

love,

The Eldest.
