poltergeist

Our garage door is possessed.

Just so you know.

I think Stick thinks I'm joshing him, 'cause every time I tell him the garage door won't go down, he pushes the button and the door goes down.

But, every time (or ALMOST every time) I push the button, it goes haywire on me.  Sometimes it teases me and goes 87% of the way down, then sneaks back up when I'm not looking.  Sometimes it's grumpy from the get go and only goes 2" before heading back up, complete with lights blinking.  It's driving me crazy.

For example, a couple of nights ago I had approximately 37 seconds to load all the kids in the car and run to pick up Rooney from soccer practice.  We were all in the car with 5.8 seconds to spare when I backed up to leave.  The garage door decided this would be a convenient time to express it's inner angst and not cooperate.  After four desperate attempts to coax the door down with the button I gave up, jumped out of the car and yanked the rope thingy that attaches the door to the track so I could manually pull the door down with my muscles.  I was NOT amused.

A few hours later Stick comes home, reattaches the door, pushes the button and the door opens with nary a hitch, a glitch or a cough.

Looser.  (ahem, the door, not Stick.)

Then last night, in what couldn't possibly be a coincidence, our basement flooded AGAIN*.  Lucky for us, Stick noticed it before we went to bed, or I'd be writing this from a row boat.  I figure either the garden hose left running right next to our window well was the work of a small child or the garage door and the basement are out to get us.

*Fortunately we still had the wet/vac sitting right where we left it last week so we could just start back right where we left off. (See? Laziness has it's upside too!)  MOM- Don't read the next sentence-- Unfortunately Stick found a rotting maggot filled dead bird in the water filled window well.  I'm going to go throw up now.

I can attest to the possessed garage door, for I have experienced it myself.

But, isn't it just So typical that it always works for Stick? That's just the way things go.

Ew, and sorry about your basement flooding again. That is SOO annoying!!
