weekly 2014.6.30
Rebekah told us yesterday that she is going to the “U” when she grows up because all her friends are going there and she doesn’t want to miss them. Which is hilarious on so many levels.
Harry is still spending every single minute of the day madly playing with his buddies. I knew they were out riding bikes one morning and when they got back they told me they’d gone all the way to the library on the trail. Well, ok, I guess that works. I’m glad they’ve had some summertime freedom, just like we did in the good old days. Apparently, no one is going to accuse me of being a helicopter parent.
Spencer and Harry both had fun at Scout Camp last week. Spencer always comes home and tells me that he won every single competition. (He has a slight competitive streak.)
Thomas gave a talk today at church about faith and did a fantastic job. He never even looks nervous. He and Stick leave tomorrow morning for one week of backpacking with the scouts. Thomas is working on being excited about it. He’s feeling nervous about the possibility of thunder/lightening and/or bears, which are both a possibility in the Uintahs. We’ve been talking about the idea of “Faith not Fear” with him. Today he seems to be feeling better about the trip.
Aaron is enjoying his new soccer team. Yesterday they did a three mile run, then a practice, then breakfast at the coach’s house. Today at church Aaron organized and did a part in a family history presentation in the Primary.
Rachel did a presentation (along with a YM from our ward) on family history for all the youth. She and the other kid didn’t realize that they had the entire hour to teach, so she felt like she could have been better prepared. She had girls camp this week and enjoyed it. It seems hard to believe that she’s done. We won’t have another girl’s camp for seven years.(Yikes!)
Stick had been madly preparing for the backpacking trip. It’s a lot of work to pack a whole weeks worth of gear/food/supplies into one backpack. And he’s a classic over-packer so I hope he will be able to lift his heavy pack once it’s all in.
I’ve been doing lots of sewing. I made a pencil skirt and a white eyelet shirt that I wore to church today. It’s been a long time since I’ve sewed for myself and it’s pretty fun.
