weekly 2015.11.22
We are feeling a little traumatized today. They announced in church that our ward/stake is being divided/changed next week. It seems a little amazing that we’ve lived in Utah for a long time and never experienced this. I’m a little sad, I really love our ward. But I suppose we will survive! For the record, Stick is excited.
Aaron and Thomas had a great experience this weekend. They went with 4 other young men and leaders from our ward and mountain biked Slick Rock in Moab. We are not really biking people so this was a new experience for them. Aaron had to order a bike from Amazon and it came the night before they left and had to be assembled. Thomas’ bike is in such bad shape that the chain keeps falling off and the breaks don’t really work. Our bishop was trying to fix his breaks and they broke right then, so he let Thomas borrow a super nice Specialized mountain bike. The boys were a little wary of the trip, but they came home really happy. Thomas did crash twice, once so hard that he couldn’t breathe for a minute or so, but no major damage. They both said they would do it again if the opportunity came up.
Bekah has had a banner week. This week she spilled hot cocoa powder on the kitchen floor twice, actual hot cocoa right inside her winter boots, Gatorade powder on the floor, and a bag of cereal on the floor. Then yesterday, she and Harry were making air pop popcorn and the lid blew off while it was popping so popcorn blew all over the kitchen. I am finding popcorn kernels EVERYWHERE.
I’ve been really amused by Harry lately. Every day after school he reads the comics and the sports page. Yesterday there were a lot of football games on tv and Harry had long detailed conversations with Stick about all the teams and various players. He’s becoming a real sports encyclopedia.
Last night Aaron went to watch his friend perform in a play at Hillcrest. Travis went to pick him up around 10ish and when they got home around 11ish, we had been TP’d. The TPers did a pretty good job, it was EVERYWHERE (just like the popcorn). We went out and cleaned it all up in the cold night air. We had to use a ladder to get it out of the trees and the roof and gutters. Our friends confessed today at church and said they intended to come help us clean it up this morning but we had already cleaned it up. HA!
All of Rachel’s classes got canceled this week so she is coming home tonight. We are super excited to see her. She still has to work though so she’ll go back to Provo a few times. She had a date Friday night that she was super excited about, I hope she’ll write a weekly and tell all about it.
In other news, I hosted book club this week and most of us were still here laughing our heads off at 11pm. Waaaah, is my book club going to survive our ward division?!?!?! I had a fun birthday. My awesome friends took me out to breakfast to start off the day. Then I finished the day with a fun date with Stick to see the brand new Norman Rockwell exhibit at BYU. So yay, I’m 44. Bekah told me I don’t look old, except for my hair.
