weekly 2015.3.8
We’ve had a strange week. Rebekah walked in from school on Tuesday looking positively green. She went right to bed and then when she woke up, she threw up. Within a couple of hours the kids were dropping like flies. Everyone was sick but only three of the kids actually threw up. Do we consider that a blessing? On Wednesday, I had the strange sensation of calling three different schools to report that six kids were home with the flu. Stick, who was also super sick in the night, went to work anyway but he felt horrible all day. I, oddly enough, was the only healthy one. That lasted until late Friday night and I’ve been miserable all weekend. I had to teach RS today so I used every ounce of my will power to do it, because I missed last month due to sickness and I didn’t feel like I could be a flake two months in a row. I was white faced, shaky and sweating, but I got through it. Here’s to hoping for a healthy week this week!
Sometimes I can’t remember what the kids have done during the week so I ask them what I should write here. Rebekah says, “I got on the Smarty Pants Wall so I got some candy.”
Harry says, “I missed the Spelling Bee ‘cause I was home sick.” (I think he was secretly relieved about this.)
Thomas is the Deacon’s Quorum president and he’s been asked to pick a movie for our ward Youth Conference this month. It has to be PG and not have a lot of bad language and appeal to the Youth. Not an easy task, let me assure you. We finally decided on Apple Dumpling Gang. It’s old enough that I figure most of the kids haven’t seen it, it has no bad language, and it’s funny in that goofy old time Disney way.
Aaron had his final Junior Jazz game yesterday. It was Tournament day, they won their first game 29-65, but got beat in the second game. They only had 5 players for the second game or they surely would have won, because they weren’t that far behind. He’s had a fun season this year.
Rachel quit her job at Draper Elem. this week. She had given her boss notice because she planned to join the track team again. But then when the time came for track she had second thoughts because she realized she needed money for college more than she needed to throw the discus for fun. (She’s having to face some grown up decisions these days, and she’s a little grumpy about it.) Since her sweeper job is over, and she’s a plant lover through and through, she’s applied at two different Nurseries and should hear this week. She’s also had to tell BYU if she wants to request a roommate or not. There is a girl in our stake begging Rachel to be her roommate, but the girl wants to live at Helaman and Rachel wants to live at Heritage. It’s been a really hard decision for her. Does she live with someone she already knows and not take any chances on a weirdo roommate? (Although this girl and Rachel are complete polar opposites in terms of personality) Or does she take her chances on a roommate and live where she wants? Decisions, decisions. At first I was telling her that Heritage was the best, but then I started thinking about Helaman and realized that she wouldn’t have to cook ever. Man, if someone offered to me right now, the change to not cook anything for ten months straight, I would jump on that train and never look back. Ah-dios-bebe. She has to let them know by tonight.
