fall fest
For FHE Monday night, we decided to take a little outing.
We grabbed some chicken, donuts, fruit salad and drinks and hit the road.
While filling up the car we watched this:
See that blip in the sky in the upper left quadrant of the picture?
It's not a bird. It's not a plane. It's not superman.
It's some kind of dust speck in the body of my camera.
Boo.
We then headed up the canyon.
First a disclaimer:
I think it's well been established, that I am not the "nature" type.
I don't like camping, bugs or dirt.
I have no desire to do my business anywhere but an actual bathroom.
I don't like swimming in lakes or oceans.
But, I love, love, love seeing the mountains in the early fall.
It was breathtaking.
By the time we got to our predetermined destination,
we found out that picnicking was not allowed,
and it was getting dark quickly.
After consulting the map we saw a camp ground just a bit down the path.
Hoping to at least find a picnic table, we headed down a dirt road in search of the camp ground.
No picnic table, but an awesome tree cave!
Why, yes, that is a plastic table cloth bib Rebekah is wearing.
(We didn't want the greasy chicken to wreck her new coat.)
You know it's been a fun adventure when you end the night, standing up in the pitch black, eating fried chicken and donuts.
Yay fall!
