difference of opinion
I realize it's a loosing battle. I have certain ideas about what I would like my boys to wear. I like plaid button up shirts, sold color golf shirts, plain t-shirts, and the occasional stripe. They have other ideas. If I even mention a plaid button up shirt, you would think I was telling them to wear a pink dress with ruffles. I hear moaning, gagging, coughing and a panic attack bordering on hysteria.
I can still control Houdini's wardrobe but I really have very little say in what the other boys wear. (Unless it's Sunday and then they don't get a vote.) I realize the old saying "you have to pick your battles" really is true. Does it really matter that they wear rumpled/crumpled faded t-shirts with some form of super hero on them every single day? Probably not. Does it matter that Brick wears the same shirt and shorts every single day, except when I peel them off him once a week to get washed? Probably not. I figure I have about 6 more months of compliance with Houdini and then he is going to pick a "favorite" shirt and invariably he will wear it every single day. And I will grin and bear it, because I am learning slowly that that's what a "good" mom of boys does.
This is their idea of a good fashion day:
This is my idea:
