weekly 2015.11.1

Not much happened this week except Halloween I guess. We had a fun Halloween. Admittedly, I’m over it and already taking down the decorations, but it was fun while it lasted.

Harry and Bekah went trick-or-treating with Thomas. I kind of like trick-or-treating but we did so much yard work yesterday trying to clean things up before the weather gets bad, that Stick and I were just too tired to go. Happily Thomas volunteered to take them. Spencer stayed home and answered the door. We had a light night; usually we get lots more kids knocking. Oh well, more candy for us! Aaron tried to set up a hidden camera in his pumpkin but once it got dark it didn’t work that well, so he went to watch a movie with friends.

Rebekah was very thrilled with her cheerleader costume, especially since she got to wear a teensy bit of mascara and lipstick. And now that Halloween is over she tells me she’s wearing it to all the BYU games! Bekah tried out for a solo in choir this week but was not chosen. Afterward when I asked her about it, she said she didn't know the song they were supposed to sing and when the leaders asked her if she sings "high" or "low" she guessed "high" but didn't really know. She didn't seem one bit concerned that she didn't get chosen and plans to try again next year.

Harry had fun being a caveman. He made his own bone necklace out of Sculpey clay. I ended up serging around the edges of his costume because fur was flying everywhere. He came home last night moderately annoyed because he trick-or-treated with only his costume on, no jacket. He said that at every single house, moms were asking him if he was cold. That fake fur was surprisingly warm, but I bet his arms were cold even if he wouldn’t admit it.

I’m not sure what Rachel did last night other than she texted me at 1:50 am to say she’d been hanging out with a boy! There’s a reason you go to college when you’re young….

Friday night just as I was rejoicing that we did not have a soccer game on Saturday for the first time in eternity, we got an e-mail from his coach reminded us of the VIP game on Saturday. AYSO puts on a VIP program where the kids go help mentally/physically handicapped kids play a soccer game. Spencer was a little hesitant at first, but then got assigned to be a buddy to a cute little dark haired kid. They ran up and down the field kicking the ball back and forth with each other. Then all the kids did stretches together and played a game. It was really cute and Spencer was happy to be able to help.

I cannot believe it’s November 1st.
