sew easy! or not.

I've spent the day sewing.

If you came over you would know this because I'm wearing leggings and a t-shirt and I'm having a decidedly bad hair day.

About two years ago I bought some lightweight floral print cotton that I thought would make a cute summer shirt. Then in a moment of insanity I decided to wing it and not use a pattern. Let's just say that was a mistake.

Now, two years later, I decided to tackle it again. And guess what? This time I'm using a pattern! But then I made the shirt and the sleeves were....um....whoa....I need to gain about 200 lbs. before they'd fit. So I had to use my made up tailoring skills and adjust the sleeves. Then I tried it on and while the sleeves looked better, it pretty much looked like a homemade floral print "scrubs" shirt. Not exactly the look I was hoping for.

Maybe I just better give up on this fabric?

At the last minute I added some shirring at the sides to give some shape to it's boxiness. And it looks better, I think, but honestly, now I'm at the point that I've looked at it so much today that I'm not even sure how it looks. So I put it away and I'll look at it again tomorrow.

Some days that's just how it goes in the sewing room.

Look at you using fancy words like "shirring"! Hope the shirt looks cute after a day of not staring at it. :)
