oceanside pier
Our vacation goal this year was to do a few local things instead of the big ticket things that SoCal is known for.
~
Down the beach (quite a ways) from our beach house is a looong wooden pier.
Historic Oceanside Pier is one of the longest wooden piers on the West Coast, spanning 1,942 feet in length.
Above picture taken from the internet.
Below picture taken by yours truly on a cloudy/misty day.
At the end of the pier is "Ruby's," a 50's Diner.
They sell ice cream cones.
I ordered 6 regular cones and a baby cone, seven cones total.
We have eight people in our family.
When the 50's clad waitress asked how many cones we needed, I said, "Uhhhh......Six regular, one baby."
You see, I can't seem to remember, under pressure, exactly how many people are in our family.
You know, the pressure of the question, "How many cones?"
It's mind boggling at times.
I suppose I could have gone back in and ordered another cone, but I didn't.
Facing the black bouffanted/red lipped/thick eyelinered waitress again and ordering another cone just didn't seem worth it.
So I shared with Stick.
(He's nice like that.)
After the ice cream, we watched more fishermen, we watched the surfers (from above) and then we walked home.
Mission accomplished.
