olympic fever

I have very fond memories of watching the Summer Olympics as a kid. What I most remember watching was synchronized swimming. I really loved it, and I'm not too proud to admit it. Hey, give me a break, I was probably 10 years old then, and it was COOL. Cool just like me back then, in my coke bottle glasses, braces and frizzy hair.

This time around, I'll be the first to admit I've seen enough beach volleyball to last me a life time but, watching Michael Phelps swim has been amazing and inspiring. Even Houdini is saying "Michael Phelps goes like dis" and swings his arms around in the air.

Today we happened to see coverage of what must be the most popular sport, Olympic Badminton. What in the world? Badminton is an Olympic SPORT? It was hilariously slow and crazy to watch. Just goes to show that if you've got a wicked shuttlecock serve, the sky is the limit.

Surely if we have Olympic Badminton now, Olympic Thumb Wrestling can't be far behind. I plan to start training for 2012 in London, where they will surely exhibit Olympic Thumb Wrestling. Have you seen my thumbs? I'm pretty sure I'll thumbp* the competition.

*pardon my pun
