The Year of Living Biblically
One Man's Humble Quest to Follow the Bible--as Literally as Possible--
A.J. Jacobs
My reading mania continues this week. I just finished The Year of Living Biblically. This book was of particular interest to me because we read the entire Old Testament as a family last year. And, well, let me just say, it was hard. Honestly, there is a lot of good in the Bible, a lot, but there's a lot of crazy too.
This book is super funny and educational. I'm pretty weak in the beliefs of other religions, having been born and raised LDS (Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints aka Mormon). So it was interesting to read about the many different religious schools of thought.
My favorite paragraph in the whole book: (His wife, Julie just had twins and they've only been home from the hospital a few days)
As for me, I know this will surprise you: I'm deliriously tired. Yesterday Julie was making a sandwich in the kitchen and I playfully patted her on the butt when I walked by. The only thing was, it wasn't Julie. It was my mom. My mom was visiting the twins. And in my bleary-eyed state, I had confused Julie for my mom. This is definitely forbidden by Leviticus.
Two thumbs up. Highly recommended.

I am reading the OT in my personal study right now. Oh my. It is something else, right!?! I had to get out the OT Study course guide thingy from BYU. It makes it a 1000 times easier/better.
