Dear Mom

Dear Mom in Russia-

Hi!  How are you?

We are having Christmas vacation.  Mother Nature is in the mood for a white Christmas this year and dumped snow on us yesterday.  There is an ongoing discussion in our family about "which is worse? shoveling snow, mowing the lawn or raking leaves."  We're in cahoots with mother nature to keep the slave labor going year round.

Shortly after breakfast, Rooney went outside to shovel the driveway.

Shoveling quickly turned into a snowball fight with the neighbor. A snow fort was built to hide behind while throwing snowballs.  Then eventually half the neighborhood showed up for snow play and more snowball fighting.  He went outside at about 9:30am and only came in at 3:45 because he had basketball practice.  He didn't even eat lunch.  Today his arms are really sore.  (Throwing snowballs for six straight hours will do that.)

The other kids joined in the snow play too, but they came and went.  They're obviously not the die hards that Rooney is.

This is what I spent the day doing.  Baking.  Not exactly my favorite activity. But I was sort of in the mood this year for gingerbread cookies.

The kids did the decorating.

Except Rooney, his arms hurt too much.

Haha!  Poor baby.

This is what you do when your boys are coughing (a lot) but they really want to decorate cookies.

Hootis' frosting skills are amazing.

We love you,

Merry Christmas,

Happy Russia!

-Your grand kids and their mother.

I can't believe you don't like to bake,.....I really enjoy baking. (and eating the goods - yesterday I made two batches of fudge and a pan of super yummy mint brownies)

I'm cracking up at your boys and their hankies. . . ha ha ha.
