weekly 2015.2.22
For our family movie last night we watched “Earth to Echo.” I seem to remember it got terrible reviews, so I expected it to be much worse than it actually was. The kids, well mainly the four boys, laughed their heads off and I smiled through the whole movie hearing them laugh. It’s sort of a combo of “ET” and “Goonies” with a modern twist.
Rachel has been sick since early Friday morning which is pretty unusual for her. She sounds like a smoker still but she’s feeling better tonight. She had to cancel her date with Tanner, a kid from our ward, which she felt bad about but it couldn’t be helped. He was understanding and kind enough to bring over a Jamba Juice for her after school that day. Still no word from BYU, but this is the last week of the month, so hopefully we will know by Saturday.
Aaron was asked yesterday to play a musical number during church at the local retirement center today. Our ward takes a turn running their sacrament meeting every once in a while. He played a variation of “I Know That My Redeemer Lives” and I wasn’t there but was told afterward he did a great job. It makes me happy that his musical talents are becoming so useful.
Thomas was so happy to wear his new grey suit from Grandpa Farr and his new Italian style church shoes to church today. He told me that he got tons of compliments. Mainly he just wanted to rub it in to me that everyone told him how great he looked, because he knows I don’t exactly love the suit or the shoes, at all. But my snotty opinions aside, I’m glad he knows what he likes.
Spencer has also been sick this week. He didn’t go back to school until Friday. He is playing on a “three on three” basketball team after school that will soon join a school wide competition. He’s really loving basketball lately.
Harry and Rebekah both tried out for the school Spelling Bee on Friday. I’m not sure how they do it with 1st graders and 5th graders all in the same Bee, but I guess they must have some kind of plan. I think we will hear tomorrow if they’ve made it in. Bekah stayed home from church today, “sick” with Rachel, but I’m pretty sure she was faking. It ended up being a long and boring day for her, so hopefully that will cure her faking. Harry went to bed all on his own, early tonight. I hope this doesn’t mean he’s going to be our next “sick” victim.
My friend asked me to come in and talk to the Mia Maids today at church about Jessica. It was hard to do but ok at the same time. It’s hard to believe she would be 16 right now if she had lived. How different our lives would be if we had two teenage girls, instead of one teenage girl and one who thinks she’s a teenage girl.
