weekly 2014.3.9 pt.II
I thought of a few things I wanted to add to my "Weekly" yesterday but forgot since I typed the entire thing on my iPad and my fingertips started to throb (inside joke) causing me to forget.
-We rented Despicable Me II from Redbox over the weekend thanks to some gift codes we got for Christmas (thanks E & J). Even though we've sworn off Redbox because it's so annoying to have to actually get in the car and drive there to get/return the movies (First world problems), free codes are free codes. The kids managed to watch it three times and laughed their heads off, every time. Now they are quoting the movie and laughing their heads off even more. (Rachel would like me to point out right now, that I laughed a couple of times too. This fact is important to her.....)
-We also rented Ender's Game. I hated the book and refused to watch the movie, but the kids watched it. The boys were grumped that so much of the book was left out, and Rachel was grumped that she hated the movie. She also hated the book, so I'm not sure why she thought she'd like the movie.
-Sometimes late at night I get really hot so I get out of bed and open our bedroom window. I usually close our bedroom door so most of the cold stays in our room. Saturday night was one of these nights.
It's kind of like camping, where it's so cold in your tent that when you move your head, your pillow is icy cold and delicious. For the record, that is the only good thing about camping. Cold pillows.
Except Saturday night, I forgot to close our door and then at some point in the night our furnace quit working.
It was a leetle bit cold, frigid, arctic in our house yesterday morning.
Our furnace has been a teensy bit temperamental in the time we've lived here. Like the time we'd spent the week in Idaho at Christmas and when we came home we found out that at some point that week the furnace quit working. In December, in Utah. Then all the kids all begged to get back in the car, 'cause at least the car was warm.
I think it's the original furnace so it's twenty years old and we wouldn't be shocked if it was totally dead. Stick has fixed it already several times, bringing it back to life. Yesterday he spent most of the afternoon tinkering with it, something he doesn't like to do on Sunday, but you know, the ox was in the mire.
Then he declared it officially beyond his capabilities and we were going to have to call a fix-it man. We hardly ever see a fix-it man around here 'cause Stick is so handy, but once in a while he either is too busy to mess with a project or (rarely) he doesn't know how to fix it.
-Saturday night we went out to dinner with some friends to a Thai place. I didn't know how to "do" my new crazy diet at a restaurant so I figured I'd just have to do my best. Turned out that everything we ate, was approved, all gluten free (GF) and dairy free (DF). And the food was really yum, so I was happy!
Over and out.

You know you're all coping us trying to be GF and DF right?
It's okay, it is the sincerest form of flattery...we accept.

I just wanted to point out here that I LOVED Enders game, the book. I HATED Enders game, the movie.
Over and out.
