weekly 2015.12.13
This week Bekah has determined her life will be over if we don’t get an Elf on the Shelf. Which I resolutely refuse to do, due to STUPIDITY. She has also declared that along with the gloves she requested for Christmas, she wants a dog and her ears pierced. Stuffed dog and clip on earrings it is! #scroogemom
Aaron got his patriarchal blessing this morning. The patriarch said, “This is an opportunity to learn things about yourself that you might not even know, things that only Heavenly Father knows.” It was an amazing experience to hear great things about our great boy. He’s also been driving like crazy this week. Yay (!) but still a teensy bit scary. I’ve been sick since Wednesday, and Friday night I was on my bed half comatose. All of a sudden I realized the house was really quiet. When I got up to investigate, I found out that Aaron took the kids to In-N-Out to get burgers to bring home for dinner. And to Sonic to get me a lemon-berry slushie for my sore throat, ‘cause he knows I love them. Teen drivers are the BEST!
Thomas has spent a lot of time this week fashioning a cardboard/wood/ metal Jedi sword. All the boys are dying of excitement that the Star Wars movie comes out this week. They are going to have a Father/Son moment on Friday afternoon, watching it together at the theater. Stick bought the tickets last week and the excitement has been building since then. One by one they’ve been watching the old movies to catch up before the new one.
Then Saturday is the BYU bowl game, which Harry is thrilled about. (I hope he’s not devastated with the results.) I’m not even sure if the boys are excited about Christmas this year with all this other fun stuff going on. Tonight we finally “trimmed” our tree, much to Bekah’s relief. I’m pretty sure I deserve a medal since I didn’t rearrange a single ornament and have no plans to.
I’m feeling about 80% better. I taught RS today and frankly it’s a relief to have it over, since I’ve been worrying for days that I wouldn’t be able to teach ‘cause I was sick. And ‘cause I felt so crummy, I was struggling to get the lesson prepared.
We facetimed with Rachel for a bit this afternoon. She told us that she got released from RS teacher before she even got a chance to teach. Her new calling is Family History Coordinator for her ward. After her impromptu performance a few weeks ago, this new calling is not a surprise. She is done with classes, and has already taken all her finals but one, even though this week is finals week. I guess most of her teachers wanted to be done early. She will probably stay in Provo to get a few other school things wrapped up and she still has to work. The weather is supposed to be horrible all week and she doesn’t really want to commute back and forth in the snow.
