weekly 2015.11.15
We’ve had a relatively calm week. Yay for calm weeks!
We had Stake Conference today with Elder Kim B. Clark but I stayed home with Spencer who is sick. He’s felt crummy and slept most of the day. He self-diagnosed himself tonight by telling me that he was pretty sure the reason he felt sick today is because he’s had too much sleep lately. Uh huh.
Spencer and Stick camped Friday night with the Scouts out on Antelope Island. It was cold but not freezing like it could have been for camping in November, so I guess they were lucky.
The rest of us here at home had a lazy night of pizza and movies. Netflix has a bunch of the Disney “shorts” all together in one show, so we watched that. A few of them were really odd, but I liked the rest, especially one about the young man who flies paper airplanes. After the littles went to bed, the big boys watched “Space Jam.” You know that old movie with Michael Jordan and the Looney Tunes? So silly, but somewhat entertaining. I went to bed after a while and had to smile to myself to hear my two big ol’ boys laughing their heads off together while watching it down at the other end of the house.
Aaron and I did some more driving yesterday and he’s definitely improving. We drove for about 1 hour and 45 minutes and I only had to scream once! He has seven hours to go. He finished all his Driver’s Ed driving at the school this week and passed the driving test with his instructor so all he has to do now is finish his hours and present his school test to the DMV and he’s official! Yay.
Harry and Bekah got their room changed around yesterday. We put Bekah’s bed with Harry’s so now he has a bunk bed and his choice of sleeping top or bottom. Right now he has sheets hanging down the sides of the bottom bed making a “kid cave” inside, complete with a handwritten sign that says, “Reading Corner.” Bekah is using Rachel’s bed that has a trundle underneath so she’s pretty happy too. Now when we have visitors there are four beds available in their room. Which works pretty well since they have the biggest (kid) room in the house.
I had to get a cracked filling and subsequent cavity repaired this week which is always a thrill. Tomorrow I go see Dr. Scott because my vision has been so wonky lately. Some days it’s totally fine and some days I’ll be driving around town and I can’t read a single sign, which I’m sure is totally safe. Last week while teaching RS, half of the room was totally blurry, which always makes teaching fun, doncha think? Stoopid MS.
I’ve been sad over the terrorist killings in Paris this weekend and also all the negative press the church got this week over the new Gay Parenting policies. Life can be tough sometimes.
Today I straightened Bekah’s hair which she’s been begging me to do for weeks. She has spent the whole afternoon alternately reading “Charlotte’s Web” and combing through her hair like a mermaid. I know from experience that having long, straight comb-able locks is the ultimate luxury for a curly haired girl, who can never ever comb her own hair with a brush.
We all played “Apples to Apples” tonight at Bekah’s request. I haven’t laughed so hard in a long time. It’s especially amusing for me to play this with Stick because it’s so bewildering for him. Playing with the little kids who may or may not actually know the definition of the words is really challenging. You really have to know how to play to your judge but even then it’s a crap shoot. So for once, Stick who wins EVERY GAME EVER INVENTED can’t win. I love you Stick, but it is nice once in a clear blue moon to actually beat you at a game!
Over and out!

I actually think I have beaten him the last few games of pit we have played!!! So he doesn't win ALL of the time. :)
